I was a little bit disappointed with Nassau, Bahamas. I think the place is kinda overrated and overpriced. Yeah the beach is clean, white sand, turquoise, clear waters but I wasn’t really that impressed. I didn’t get to say "WOW!". I could be just expecting too much, fancying that Bahamas was "THE-beach-to-be". But I’ve seen better beaches in Asia, including Philippines. The Sentosa beach in Singapore is still my favorite and is a real must-see.

It’s expensive in Bahamas. They charge you for everything. For example, our hotel room was $145.00/night (excluding taxes) and that was actually a good deal since we had an ocean view, but then they added the maid service fee of $15 per person per day plus resort fee of $11 per person per day plus I don’t know what else they added. And it’s like that in the other hotels. They also automatically add the 15% tip then another optional tip in restaurants– doesn’t matter if the service sucked or not. I was really disappointed when we ate at this restaurant called Seaside Buffet inside our hotel. I was expecting seafood but there wasn’t any, not even shrimps..when that was one of the main reasons why I wanted to go to Bahamas. I thought fresh seafood would be ubiquitous in the island. I did get to taste some fried conch in a small restaurant downtown and kinda liked it. The dish is unique to them.

The weather wasn’t cooperating with us either. It was raining with very strong winds two of the three days we were there so we only got to spend time at the beach once. Our plan of doing some water sports failed. I had to keep asking Brian if he was sure there wasn’t any hurricane coming..haha.

There wasn’t really much to do and see there anyway but the beach.

I could just go on and on with my disappointments but I’m just gonna hush.. lol. Though I’m not gonna say that I regret going there ‘coz I still enjoyed my time with my family in a new country. And it’s an addition to the list of countries that we’ve visited.

The good thing was, the locals were nice and helpful.

Would I go back there? Um, No. I’m interested to see the rest of the Carribean though.
